Exchanging rings is the most romantic part of wedding ceremonies across all faiths and cultures. Wedding bands symbolize the couple’s endless love and devotion to one another and their vows to maintain a lifelong commitment to the relationship. Traditionally, each person purchases the ring their spouse will wear—but couples still shop together so they can agree on matching or complementary styles.
If you’re looking at wedding bands in NYC, let Lauren B Jewelry be your one stop shop. Our expansive Midtown showroom features a wide selection of wedding bands and engagement rings. In preparation for your consultation, familiarize yourself with metal types and setting styles of our wedding bands for women and men—plus suggestions on engagement ring pairings.
Metal Types
The wedding bands in our NYC showroom are made of durable, precious metals. Our skilled designers can also create two-tone rings. You have the option to add an engraving on the inside of the band for a truly customized style.
Yellow Gold
Yellow gold has an instantly recognizable color. It is made of pure gold mixed with other metals, including zinc and silver, to make it less malleable. A high concentration of copper gives the metal its yellow hue. The warmth of yellow gold flatters tan, medium, and deep complexions with warm-leaning or olive undertones.
Go back a few generations, and your ancestors most likely had wedding bands made of yellow gold. It was the first metal used to create rings and regained popularity in the 1960s through the 1980s. It is a good choice for individuals who prefer traditional or vintage-inspired bands.
To care for a yellow gold band, gently wash it with mild soap and warm water and use a microfiber cloth for drying.
White Gold
White gold is a combination of pure gold, pure silver, and colored alloys. The colored alloys, such as nickel and palladium, give white gold its classic silvery-white color and make it harder to scratch and nick. White gold is covered with rhodium plating for strength and brilliance, giving it the look of platinum for less. The wedding band must be replated approximately once a year, depending on the level of wear.
Cool-toned jewelry lovers will feel at home wearing white gold wedding bands. The silvery color flatters pale, light, and deep skin tones with neutral or cool undertones. Sleek and sophisticated, white gold is a popular metal choice for modern-style wedding bands.
Rose Gold
Rose gold is a mixture of pure gold, silver, and copper. The pale to coppery-pink color gives rose gold jewelry a romantic, ethereal allure. Copper makes rose gold durable and causes it to deepen in color over time, which can add to the charm of a textured wedding band. This precious metal won’t tarnish and can be cleaned with warm water and mild soap or a salt-and-vinegar solution
Flattering on a variety of skin tones, rose gold is a colorful option for nontraditional wedding rings. The soft pink pairs well with yellow and white gold for a two-tone band or mixed-metal wedding ring stack.
Platinum
Cool-toned platinum is the superhero of precious metals, as it is one of the hardest metals that’s ever been discovered and won’t corrode over time. A platinum wedding band is a mix of at least 50% pure platinum; palladium, rhodium, or other metals from the platinum group; and base metals, such as cobalt or copper.
Platinum is a great choice for wedding band wearers who work with their hands or want to enjoy the exclusivity of wearing a rare, luxe precious metal.
Platinum doesn’t need to be polished, which makes it easy to maintain the wedding band’s gleaming white appearance. The metal complements modern and classic ring styles.
Band & Setting Styles
The wedding bands in our NYC showroom represent a wide range of styles, which makes it easy to choose a ring that suits your preferences or has a solid foundation for a custom design.
Simple & Chic
A plain band without diamonds is a great option for people who wear minimal jewelry or need a grounding piece to balance out their ring stack. We offer classic comfort-fit bands, twisted bands, beaded bands, and euro fit bands.
Opting for a pavé ring adds some delicate sparkle to your wedding ring. Depending on your preference, we can customize the width of your band ranging from as wide as 4.5mm to as small as 1.5mm, also known as our Super Slim™ band.
Diamond-Encrusted Treasures
A natural diamond, lab diamond, or color gemstone wedding band commands attention. The small baubles will sparkle each time they catch the light, complementing the center stone of any engagement ring.
The diamonds in the Lauren B Jewelry inventory are all conflict-free, according to our knowledge and the ethical practices of our suppliers. We work with vendors who follow the Kimberley Process, an initiative designed to stop the trade of conflict diamonds.
Pavé and multirow pavé are classic low-profile settings. The tiny diamonds rest close together and are secured by beads or prongs. The U-shape is a heftier setting featuring large, deep, cup-like prongs that expose the profile of each diamond.
The channel setting offers a uniform appearance, as each stone is placed in a channel wall that is held between two strips of metal. The bright cut, not to be confused with the channel setting, is similar but has tiny beads in between each stone.
If you prefer larger diamonds across the entire shank, the prong basket setting is a good choice. The prongs and metal bar will keep the precious stones in place for an added layer of protection.
With a bezel setting, only the top portion of the gemstone is visible. Metal surrounds the rest of the stone. The encasing metal can be smooth or milgrain to give it texture. Bezel settings are the most secure and safest for active lifestyles and can prevent the most damage to the stones.
Choose band styles based on the number of gemstones in the wedding ring design. An eternity band includes numerous diamonds across the entire band in a uniform line. We can also create wedding bands with gemstones across ½ or ¾ of the band as well as rings with five to seven stones across the band.
Men’s Collection
Our Benchmark collection of classic designs includes timeless, tasteful platinum and gold bands with a domed fit to increase comfort. The Designer rings are for those who prefer decorative accents, as paisley, wicker weave, kaleidoscope, and leaf motifs are a few of the patterns included on the bands. Ammara stone and diamonds are contemporary styles for unique wedding rings for men.
Engagement Ring Pairings
How the two rings fit together also matters. When the engagement ring’s setting has a high profile, the wedding band will likely be able to sit flush against it. If you have a lower-set engagement ring, there might be a small gap between the rings. In this case, you could opt for a contoured tiara band that curves to follow the shape of the engagement ring for a cohesive, distinctive look.
Our team members will help you choose the right pairing. You can also refer to our extensive collection of sets for ideas to guide your decisions.
The sky’s the limit when it comes to wedding band and engagement ring pairings. Choose the same shape or color stone, metal type, or decorative accents to unify the two rings. Or find wedding bands that complement the engagement ring.
